HÅG X Recouture Capisco task chair by Flokk
Dezeen Showroom: an icon of Norway's industrial design meets traditional crafts in Flokk's HÅG X Recouture Capisco task chair, made with vintage åkle textile.
Åkle is a traditional handwoven tapestry textile from Norway, and in the HÅG X Recouture Capisco task chair, vintage sections of it are worked into the unmistakeable ergonomic form of the Capisco chair, originally designed by Peter Opsvik for HÅG and launched in 1984.
Each textile used varies in colour, structure and age, making each HÅG X Recouture Capisco task chair a one-of-a-kind piece, carefully crafted to the look and behaviour of the specific åkle.
"Working with åkle means working with something that already has a life," said Recouture founder and designer Hilde Hoff Nordskar. "You respond to the textile, not the other way around."
"Bringing it into a contemporary chair like the HÅG Capisco creates a new chapter without erasing the old one."
Each HÅG X Recouture Capisco task chair matches its vintage åkle with a complementary metal finish and a locally woven wool.
Twelve unique chairs have been created in a limited-edition collection, but individuals can also work directly with Flokk and Recouture to select their own åkle and material combinations.
"HÅG has always designed with longevity in mind," said HÅG brand manager Svein Erik Husby. "This collaboration extends that philosophy by giving historic textiles a new place in the modern workspace."
