Jonas sauna by Celsium Wellness
Dezeen Showroom: elegant charred timber clads the exterior of the Jonas sauna, designed by Lithuanian company Celsium Wellness to bring a quiet architectural retreat to outdoor spaces.
Combining the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method of wood preservation with Scandinavian styling, the Jonas sauna has a simple cubic form and a minimalistic feel.
Celsium Wellness describes it as sitting calmly in the landscape, "appearing almost as a shadow between the trees", and having a monolithic presence while being space-efficient.
On the inside, the cool exterior gives way to warm aspen timber cladding, with integrated benches, soft lighting and an optional audio system setting the mood for a tranquil sauna experience.
Buster + Punch finishes can be specified for a pop of modern metal, and custom engraving can be worked into the backrest for a personalised touch.
The Jonas sauna ships either flatpacked of fully pre-assembled. The modular design is available in a range of sizes and configurations, and with other natural or painted wood cladding options as an alternative to the charred timber.
