Strata collection by John Pawson for Teixidors
Dezeen Showroom: Spanish brand Teixidors worked with designer John Pawson on a range of tactile throws and cushions that reference both stone architecture and rural landscapes.
John Pawson's work spans furniture, interior and architectural design, and the Strata collection is informed by travertine, limestone and terracotta, which are materials Pawson has frequently used.
As well as stone-like, pale colour – namely pink-tinted Rose and beige Neutral – the raised linear motifs present on the cushions and throws harken back to the lines that define building facades.
"The design plays with volumes, planes and lines that evoke the rhythms of architecture and the natural landscapes of Oxfordshire, where the architect resides," said Teixidors.
The pieces are handwoven on traditional looms using Merino wool and cashmere, creating tactile pieces that invite cosiness.
"The collaboration between John Pawson and Teixidors represents a natural meeting of two ways of understanding creation: architecture as the art of essentiality, and textiles as the expression of the human hand," said Teixidors.
