Consumer Reports analyzed EV fees currently in effect in 26 states. In 11 of those states, the EV fee was greater than what a similar gas-burning model would generate in gas taxes. In three states – Alabama, Arkansas and Wyoming – EV fees are more than twice what owners of gas-fueled cars pay.
