CalPERS and CalStRS are caught in a political crossfire. On the Right, they are being attacked as unfriendly to fossil fuels. On the Left, they are being pressured to divest. These funds have a fiduciary to produce returns for their beneficiaries. Politicians should quit interfering with them.
