Roaring Lyles matches Bolt with fourth world 200m title

Lyles, who won bronze in the 100m in the Japanese capital, clocked 19.52sec in what the charismatic American calls his "bread and butter" event. Lyles roared as he came through the line, raising four fingers to acknowledge his four 200m titles and quickly seeking out his onlooking mother Keisha Caine Bishop in the stands. Lyles's teammate Kenny Bednarek took silver in 19.58sec, with Jamaican Bryan Levell claiming bronze in 19.64sec. Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana had to settle for fourth... Ratcliffe visit not a Man Utd crisis meeting, says Amorim

United have taken just four points from their opening four Premier League games and were dumped out of the League Cup in embarrassing fashion by fourth tier Grimsby. Amorim has won just eight of his 31 Premier League matches since taking charge in November, but the former Sporting Lisbon boss said Ratcliffe reassured him that United remain committed to a long-term project. "A new contract," Amorim joked when asked about the subject of his meeting with British billionaire Ratcliffe. "No, it is normal things... Читать дальше...

Asked when he would start keeping an eye on the title race by checking the table, Frank told reporters on Friday: "April? Let's put it that way. "I think I looked at the table a couple of times after one of the last games and I thought... Читать дальше...

In an exclusive interview with FRANCE 24, Chris Sidoti, a member of the UN Independent Commission on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, discussed the “accumulation of evidence” that led the commission to conclude that Israel is committing genocide. Sidoti stated that “the words coming out of the mouths of Israeli leaders themselves condemn them,” pointing to what he sees as clear indications of intent behind Israel’s actions in Gaza. According to him, “it can no longer be said that the fighting... Читать дальше...

No letup in migrant crossings after UK-France 'one in one out' deal

On Friday a migrant was expelled from Britain after losing a High Court challenge, the second person to be sent back to France under the "one in one out" pilot scheme agreed by both governments over the summer. The removal is a small victory for Prime Minister Keir Starmer after the first returns under the UK-France deal were stymied this week by legal challenges. But undeterred about the risk of such removals, dozens of migrants gathered on a northern French beach Friday, hoping to catch a ride... Читать дальше...

Bol retains world crown but laments McLaughlin-Levrone absence

Dutchwoman Bol blazed home in 51.54sec in Tokyo, ahead of American Jasmine Jones and Slovakia's Emma Zapletalova. The race was notable for the absence of McLaughlin-Levrone, who chose not to compete in the hurdles in the Japanese capital so she could concentrate on the 400m flat race. The decision paid off handsomely, with the American clocking the second-fastest time ever to win Thursday's final. Bol said her victory was "a dream come true" but admitted she would have preferred to beat McLaughlin-Levrone to earn it. Читать дальше...

'Weaponisation of the First Amendment: Trump administration using legal tools to stifle free speech'

In a media landscape already weathering fierce storms of disinformation, polarization, and political theater, today’s conversation asks us to step back and ask something deeper: What happens when the very concept of free speech is turned against itself? Our guest, Dr. Stefania Di Stefano, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Conservatoire Nationale des Arts et Métiers, has been tracking a pattern she calls “unprecedented on many levels”: the use of legal and regulatory tactics not to protect free expression, but to stifle it. Everton must bridge 'gulf' to rivals Liverpool, says Moyes

The Toffees head to Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday, where they have not won in front of a crowd since 1999. Moyes' personal record away to Liverpool is just as bad as he has not beaten the Reds in 22 matches at various clubs. The task for Everton has been made even harder by Liverpool's near £450 million ($612 million) spend on new players in the summer, including a British transfer record £125 million on Alexander Isak. "I still think that they've spent more on one player than we have... Читать дальше...
