The Lakers have had their chances tonight, and other than a couple mini runs by the Jazz, have been right there. It’s going to be hard for this team to beat anyone – let alone a surging Utah squad – on a night when AD is 5-for-21 and LeBron is out. – 11:50 PM

Warriors fade late in Milwaukee without Steph Curry. Stayed in it the entire way, got 28 from Kuminga, 23 from Podziemski, 21 from Klay. Only turned it over nine times. But another loss. Record down to 18-21. They’re in Memphis on Monday with Curry and maybe Draymond back. – 10:20 PM

Uh, what the hell has gotten into Collin Sexton?
– He’s one of the NBA’s top 10 per-minute scorers over the last month, over KD/LeBron/Steph/etc
– He’s shooting 50/40/90, nbd. (50/39.7/89.5 if you wanna be pedantic)
My story on what’s changed for him:

More on this storyline
Thompson came out guns blazing in the third quarter, going 5-5 from deep and 2-2 from the line for a total of 17 points, leading the way for the Warriors in a 48-point quarter that swung the momentum in their favor for good. With Curry sealing the deal in the final minutes, the Dubs came away with a 140-131 win, renewing all hope for a team that has, in Steve Kerr’s words, lost confidence in recent days. “It can be a championship team. Obviously, we can’t claim that right now, being sub-.500, but we know when we get whole, we can be as good as anybody. […] We understand that it’s not going to be easy this year, we have to fight for wins every night. But we know the sky’s the limit for a team like this,” Thompson said in his postgame interview, per Warriors on NBC Sports on Twitter (X). -via Clutch Points / January 13, 2024

Scotto: Do you think Golden State can trade Chris Paul in a package and get value for him? When you talk to executives around the league, Andrew Wiggins is the guy they’re looking at who could be the guy moved there, given the way he’s moved to the bench and how he’s played since his All-Star season. Lastly, Jonathan Kuminga is a guy they want to keep. They don’t want him going anywhere because he’s gotten better, and more importantly, because he’s affordable, given their luxury tax concerns with their core, and having to keep Klay Thompson this summer. -via HoopsHype / January 12, 2024

Channing Frye: I think he made a great decision going to L.A. If he leaves, I’d rate him 8 out of 10. I can’t give him a 10 out of 10 because he only won once. So Bron individually, I’ll give them a 10 out of 10, but the Lakers, they only win championships, so he got one but then the other years he didn’t make the playoffs, or they got beat in the first round or whatever it is that happened. I also think you look at some of the rosters that he’s had and there’s only so much you could do with that, right? You can’t ask for Michelin-star meals with Costco ingredients at times. Sometimes it works, but he’s 39 years old, so for me, if he leaves that’s good, more power to him, but I think his time has been extremely successful. But in the end, you have to surround him with the right kind of players. -via HoopsHype / January 13, 2024
