More on this storyline
Frye, the former Knick, also dislocated his shoulder in the NBA and avoided surgery for as long as possible, placing the priority on winning until a second dislocation put him under the knife. And even though Frye still has problems raising his arm, he regrets none of it. “You just have to be ready. If you’re committed to just playing through it, there are things that are just going to flat-out hurt. Flat out. It’s going to hurt,” Frye told The Post. “But that might not be every game. For me, Julius, he’s going to have to adjust quickly.” -via New York Post / March 1, 2024
“You had to rehab the crap out of it,” Frye added. “If we have practice at 9 o’clock, I got to get there at 8 because I have a whole hour just for my shoulder. To stretch it out, warm it up. It’s just something you got to do.” And Frye, who tore his labrum with that first dislocation, believes it’s worth it. “This is the regular season. This is the playoffs. And the Knicks are good this year. Knicks are very good. I’d be rehabbing, too,” Frye said. “I would not have gotten surgery, either. Forget that. I think they have a puncher’s chance at making some noise.” -via New York Post / March 1, 2024
Channing Frye: I think he made a great decision going to L.A. If he leaves, I’d rate him 8 out of 10. I can’t give him a 10 out of 10 because he only won once. So Bron individually, I’ll give them a 10 out of 10, but the Lakers, they only win championships, so he got one but then the other years he didn’t make the playoffs, or they got beat in the first round or whatever it is that happened. I also think you look at some of the rosters that he’s had and there’s only so much you could do with that, right? You can’t ask for Michelin-star meals with Costco ingredients at times. Sometimes it works, but he’s 39 years old, so for me, if he leaves that’s good, more power to him, but I think his time has been extremely successful. But in the end, you have to surround him with the right kind of players. -via HoopsHype / January 13, 2024
So your GOAT is definitely LeBron and not Michael Jordan? MM: Well, I mean that’s just from my life experience. I’m sure if I was born in 1980, and I watched Michael Jordan growing up I would think he’s the GOAT. This is interesting because in the videos I made, I was very purposeful to not make any mention of LeBron James or the GOAT debate because I knew that people would try to turn it into that. It’s more, ‘Oh well, you’re just a LeBron fan with this thing against Michael Jordan’. It was funny, I never mentioned LeBron or the GOAT debate and Michael Jordan fans still find a way to bring LeBron up. Hey, no one’s talking about LeBron here. Maybe these are just insecure Michael Jordan fans. The video I made wasn’t even about that and still half the comments turn into that. -via HoopsHype / March 15, 2024
“I think he has the ability to do whatever the team needs, especially offensively,” James told ESPN of Russell’s impact on L.A.’s playoff push. “That’s what’s special about him. He can adapt to whatever the game calls for. “But when D-Lo is at his best, he’s in attack mode.” -via ESPN / March 14, 2024
“It takes a strong individual, especially when you’re hearing everything that goes around,” James said of Russell. “You’re hearing the trade talks, you’re hearing this and that and whatever the case may be and ‘Is D-Lo the right fit?’ or whatever. One thing is, he just don’t waver. -via ESPN / March 14, 2024
