The Pelicans double-teamed him plenty. And it worked to perfection in the first half as they built a double-digit halftime lead while forcing Wembanyama to a slow start offensively. But Wembanyama stayed patient while looking to feed his teammates. “Throughout the year, I’ve had to adapt to this (defensive strategy), but the coaches and also my teammates have worked to try and get me involved even though they play defense like this,” Wembanyama said. “But attracting defense and getting double-teamed isn’t necessarily a bad thing if we can pass the ball as a team.
