Oklahoma sends additional resources to Texas
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Oklahoma swift water rescue teams have been on the ground in Texas for a little more than a week and more help is on the way.
More rain slamming the region during the weekend prompting Texas to ask for additional resource for continued relief efforts.
Oklahoma has responded to the request by sending a seven-member swift water rescue team to support water operations and relief efforts in flood impacted areas.
The team is made up of member from fire departments across the state. They arrived in Texas safely on Saturday.
Oklahoma City Fire said they were trained for these types of situations.
"We're always eager to help at the request of whatever state might be needing some resources. It's just the right thing to do," said David Shearer, Shift Commander for Oklahoma City Fire.
OKC Fire said teams on the ground are doing all they can to help.
"They'll be with us on those water ways doing searches around debris piles around the water just working down stream in these areas hoping that we'll be successful at hopefully finding some of the missing," said Captain Matt Bell, with Oklahoma Task Force 1.
