Police release more information in Jones water buffalo attack
JONES, Okla. (KFOR) - The Jones Police Department has released more information regarding a fatal water buffalo attack on July 11.
Officials say officers responded to a farm on Friday, July 11, regarding a man who had been attacked by water buffalo. Upon arrival, one water buffalo was aggressive which made it difficult for first responders to reach the victim, identified as Bradley McMichael. This led officials to put the animal down.
Once first responders were able to reach McMichael, they discovered he had multiple deep lacerations, later leading to his death.
According to Jones Police, as investigators processed the scene, a second water buffalo became aggressive, leading officials to put the animal down as well. Investigators determined that the water buffalos were responsible for McMichael's injuries.
Police say McMichael had purchased the two water buffalos a day prior at a livestock auction. It is believed that he became strapped inside the enclosure while tending to the animals.
