Camera captures Blanchard home invasion
BLANCHARD, Okla. (KFOR) - A family in Blanchard is still in shock after a scary encounter with a man who broke into their home, and it was all caught on camera.
The Dunbar family woke up to a notification from the ring camera in their backyard. They say they almost did not check to see what it was, but when they did, they found an unknown man entering their home.
"I don't know that he got in," said Samantha Dunbar, whose home was broken into. "My kids and I are all asleep around 2:07 am, and I get a notification on my phone from my Ring camera, and there's a guy standing on the back porch."
Watch as this man is caught on camera in the backyard of the Dunbar family's home.
Dunbar saw what was caught on camera and went to the living room.
"I run to the living room where I know the back door is," said Dunbar. "I see him. He's standing inside the living room. My kids are close to where he's standing, and I just immediately scream. I still don't have a voice from screaming so loud. I scream for my husband, John, get the gun."
That quick action scared off the intruder, but those moments still linger with the family.
"It's your worst fear as a parent and as a mom, you're always trying to protect your kids," said Dunbar. "It just took something away that, you know, it's going to be hard to get back to normal and feel safe in our own home."
Dunbar has filed a police report but hopes the suspect gets caught soon.
