Suspect arrested in connection with Saturday night Lafayette homicide
A Lafayette woman was shot and killed Saturday night, authorities said.
UPDATE, 12/12/23, 8:30 a.m.: The Lafayette Police Department arrested Deaontrae Sampson, 29, of Lafayette, in connection with this homicide investigation, authorities said. Sampson was charged with one count of second degree murder, one count illegal use of dangerous weapons and one count felon in possession of a firearm. Sampson has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail. Bond details were not released.
ORIGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A Lafayette woman was shot and killed Saturday night, authorities said.
Michelle Touchet, 37, of Lafayette, was found with multiple gunshot wounds by Lafayette Police at approximately 11 p.m Saturday in the 300 block of Sampson Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the female victim was walking back from a neighbor when she was approached by a suspect. The suspect then fired several rounds at the victim, striking her multiple times.
