Ex-STM teacher, coach schedules change of plea hearing in sex crimes case

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Angel Cardona, who was hired as a teacher and coach at St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette before being arrested and charged with sex crimes, may have a plea deal in place.
According to court records, a Change of Plea hearing has been scheduled for Cardona, who has been charged with enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and attempted production of child pornography. He was arrested in July by U.S. Marshals before stepping into an STM classroom.
The hearing will be held before U.S. District Judge David C. Joseph on Friday, Jan. 26 at 10:30 a.m. in Lafayette.
