Man dies in Friday morning Opelousas shooting

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- A man was shot and killed in Opelousas early Friday morning, authorities said.
Chris Lavergne, 46, was found shot to death in the 900 block of Patsy St., according to the Opelousas Police Department.
At approximately 12:05 a.m. Friday Opelousas Police responded to a report of a medical emergency in the 900 block of Patsy St. Lavergne was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
The Opelousas Police Department is seeking assistance from the public. Anyone with information regarding this shooting is urged to contact the Opelousas Police Department at 337-948-2500.
