Proposed bill would let Louisiana teachers concealed carry a gun on school campus
Teachers and school administrators who possess a valid concealed handgun permit would be allowed to carry concealed weapons in Louisiana if a proposed bill passes.
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - Teachers and school administrators who possess a valid concealed handgun permit would be allowed to carry concealed weapons in Louisiana if a proposed bill passes.
State Rep. Lauren Ventrella (R-LA) filed HB721 for the 2024 Regular Louisiana Legislative.
HB721 proposes "for the carrying of a concealed weapon in a school or on a school campus by a certified teacher or school administrator who is employed by a school district and possesses a valid concealed handgun permit."
The proposed legislation creates an exception to the illegal carrying of weapons on school campuses. This exception applies during regular school hours or on a school bus.
