SCOTT, La. (KLFY) -- A Scott home was completely destroyed in a Friday night fire, according to the Scott Fire Department.
The Scott Fire Department said they responded to a residential fire in the 100 block of Perry Oak Drive around 8:43 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, firefighters said they observed heavy smoke emitting from the home.
Firefighters entered the structure and encountered heavy fire in the attic. The department said the combination of winds, magnitude of the fire and lack of water in the area hampered firefighting efforts; as a result additional assistance was requested. The fire was brought under control in 50 minutes.
An investigation into the fire is ongoing. It is believed that lighting may of struck the home just prior to the fire. The home is a complete loss, according to officials.
No firefighters or civilians were injured in the fire.
