Lafayette house fire damages 3 buildings; arrest made
An arrest was made in a Thursday morning house fire that left three buildings damaged.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – An arrest was made in a Thursday morning house fire that left three buildings damaged.
According to the Lafayette Fire Department, firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Eight Street around 10:11 a.m. on Thursday. Two adjacent buildings were in risk of catching fire, but emergency crews managed to keep the fire from spreading and had the fire under control within 10 minutes. The dwelling sustained major fire damages, while the adjacent buildings only suffered minor damages.
The occupants of the house indicated that a man set several fires inside. None of the occupants were injured.
The suspect, Gilberto Garza, 43, was arrested and charged with simple arson.
Garza was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
