Duson residents celebrate Jake Brown Day with Tigers' champion
DUSON, La. (KLFY) -- The town of Duson welcomed LSU baseball champion Jake Brown as they celebrated Jake Brown Day at Naq's-N-Duson.
Brown received a proclamation from Duson's mayor, police chief, fire chief, and city council members. He also took pictures and autographed items from fans.
One autographed item, a Jake Brown jersey, was raffled off. Brown says the support is one reason he decided to be a Tiger.
"I knew the community support was always there," he said. "Fans in Louisiana are crazy, and we love them, and being able to deliver was something awesome, and coming back home has been really nice. Being with family, being with friends, it's been something that I'm super thankful for."
Naq's, which is owned by Brown's cousin Kevin Naquin, put on a Jello shot challenge during the College World Series, similar to the one run in Omaha. A portion of those sales was given to Brown through NIL.
Brown announced that half of what he received will be donated to the Miracle League of Acadiana, a baseball league for children and adults with disabilities.
