Local tattoo shop holds fundraiser to rebuild after car crash
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) --Be True Tattoo, a local tattoo shop, is on its way to reopening after being destroyed in June when a car crashed into the shop, injuring a pedestrian and an employee.
The shop is holding a flash day tattoo fundraiser this Saturday at Instant Classic Tattoo to raise funds for the rebuilding process.
"Things can be replaced. People cannot," said Paige Haggerty, a body piercer at Be True Tattoo and Instant Classic Tattoo.
Paige Haggerty was not present at the shop on the day of the crash but expressed gratitude that there were no fatalities. Since the incident, Be True Tattoo has been closed, with employees relocated to its sister shop, Instant Classic Tattoo.
"It's been quite an adjustment. I know that myself and all of the artists are so thankful that we have our sister shop Instant Classic to be able to work out of." Haggerty said. "But we are aggressively rebuilding so that we can have another space, so that we can offer tattoos and piercings for the community."
The flash day event will feature custom designs by the artists, with all proceeds going towards the shop's reconstruction. Haggerty highlighted the positive atmosphere expected at the fundraiser, stating that people can anticipate good vibes and good tattoos, all supporting talented artists and good people.
The fundraiser aims to support the rebuilding of Be True Tattoo, ensuring the shop can continue serving the community with its unique offerings.
