LPSS employees to receive $2,000 stipend in September
LAFAYETTER, La. (KLFY) -- Lafayette school employees will be getting a bonus next month, the district has announced.
The Lafayette Parish School Board has granted a $2,000 stipend for every Lafayette Parish School System employee, with payments scheduled for September.
According to a news release from the district, the State of Louisiana will provide $2,000 to teachers and $1,000 to all other employees. For the third straight year, the Board will contribute an additional $1,000 for full-time support personnel who receive benefits.
“This stipend is a reflection of the value we place on every member of our team,” said LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. “From clerks to custodians to classroom teachers, it takes all of us working together to build thriving schools. I’m grateful to the Board for their commitment to our employees and proud of the dedication our staff show each day to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.”
Touchet said the stipend is part of the district’s "ongoing effort to recruit, retain and reward quality employees while fostering a supportive and collaborative school culture."
