HATHWAY, La. (KLFY) -- Damon Hebert is launching a shotgun shell assembly business called Chenier Shot Shells in Hathaway, Louisiana, focusing on custom non-toxic ammunition.

Hebert, a duck hunter, is turning his hobby into a business after buying out his partner's share in the venture. He is currently awaiting his Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) license to begin selling ammunition online.

"From the get-go, I told him I wanted to be part of it, and through our friendship, he offered to sell it to me," Hebert said.

"Hopefully within the next month we should have our SSL license, then we'll actually be able to start taking orders and sale," Hebert stated.

Hebert expressed his desire to maintain a local business that supports his family and allows him more time with them.

"If I can make a living for my family and just stay local, that would be fine with me. But who knows what the good Lord has in store," Hebert said.
