Heat advisory Friday and Saturday with triple digit heat index
Temperatures tonight will be a bit warmer than last night, dipping into the lower 70s. Winds will stay light out of the south, and the sky will remain clear through the night.
A Heat Advisory goes into effect Friday and continues through Saturday for all of northeast Kansas. Heat index values could reach up to 107° in a few spots. Be sure to drink plenty of water and limit outdoor activities during the peak afternoon heat.
An upper-level ridge is settling over the area, bringing dry and sunny weather through the weekend. Friday’s highs will reach the mid-90s, and with little wind, relief from the heat will be minimal.
Saturday will be even hotter, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat indices well into the triple digits. The summer-like stretch continues into Sunday, with highs holding in the mid-90s and only minimal chances for rain.
Summer isn’t quite over yet, there are still about six more weeks to soak up the sun. Stay safe and enjoy the warmth while it lasts!
