Kansas DCF reacts to partial SNAP funding decision
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Kansas Department for Children and Families is weighing in after federal officials announced a national food program will be partially funded in November.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture said it will partially send out benefits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during the month of November. Funding is being drawn from a contingency fund.
The USDA will first send out official notices to each state showing how much individual households will receive from the contingency fund, according to a federal court filing. The DCF reports that it has yet to receive this information from the USDA but, once it does, it will determine the next steps to issue partial payments and speak more about when Kansas SNAP recipients can expect to receive them.
