GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is advising that a missing monitor lizard is on the loose in the Lakewood subdivision of Georgetown.
Patrol and Livestock deputies called off the search for the animal around 4:30 p.m., setting up a trap at a Sun City golf course. The trap is near a body of water due to the reptile’s attraction to water.
Officials are hoping it will make its way out of the water and in to the trap some time this evening.
The trap isn’t hazardous to people and blocked off by caution tape, according to the sheriff’s office. However, the lizard can be dangerous to small children and animals.
If you come across the lizard, you’re asked to use caution and call 911.
