The University of Texas' Discovery to Impact program is helping to foster the next wave of startups in Austin, with the city becoming a hub for technology and entrepreneurship. The program helps students take their ideas and translate them into businesses, and has recently released a report highlighting over 100 new inventions and patents generated by the university. From September 2024 to August 2025, the program spent $1.4 billion in research and development, received 300 invention disclosures, had 154 new patent applications, and formed 12 start-ups, generating $182 million in licensing revenue.
