Jogak Light Collection 01
The Jogak Light Collection 01 is a minimalist lighting collection by the Copenhagen and Paris-based design practice, Studio Booboon. Reimagining the traditional Korean textile method of bojagi, this series of floor lamps transforms fabric remnants into poetic studies of light and cultural heritage.
Each light is composed of layered, translucent jogak off-cuts, made from a Korean silk known as oksa, that are meticulously trimmed and arranged to form a luminous textile shade. The oksa fabric is characterized by irregular, bead-like ridges that give the lamps their distinctive tactile surface: simultaneously soft and coarse. As light passes through the patchworked layers, it creates a gentle diffusion of illumination that highlights the textile’s unique appearance.
Available in three sizes, each Jogak light pays homage to traditional techniques while embracing a contemporary form. By breathing new life into leftover materials, this series reflects Studio Booboon’s sensitivity to the subtle details of daily life and co-founders Jisu Yun and Richard Bone’s ongoing inquiry into the intersection of materiality, tradition, and modern design
