Leos
Leos is a minimalist apartment by the Paris-based architecture practice ovo/studio. Located in the French capital, the residence was designed for a family already living in the 92-square-meter (990 square feet) home. Its design responds to a practical need: the creation of a third bedroom without sacrificing light or a sense of spaciousness.
To achieve this, the former living room was reconfigured into the primary bedroom, while the kitchen remained in place. In order to preserve natural light and maintain views across Paris, the architects also introduced a glass partition wall, allowing daylight to circulate freely through the apartment while subtly redefining zones. To provide storage, a former corridor and closet were transformed into a custom bookshelf.
Wood millwork also anchors the project throughout. A curved built-in bench with storage underneath offers seating in the living area, doubling a space for dining. In the new primary bedroom, wood wainscoting on the walls offers material continuity between the two rooms, while introducing a sense of warmth into the space.
True to ovo/studio’s philosophy of working with what already exists, the renovation of the Leos Apartment offers a thoughtful recalibration of the original plan, one that optimizes space without sacrificing comfort.
