Sports briefs: Archie Williams pulls away in second half
Reese Patton and Parker Conrad combined to score 26 points to lead the Archie Williams High girls basketball team to a 44-29 win against St. Vincent de Paul on Monday.
Patton led the way with 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Conrad scored 11 and had nine rebounds. Victoria Anderson Lynch scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Peregrine Falcons (9-7), who led 19-16 at the half. Lila Peterson led all players with 13 rebounds.
Archie Williams is back in action again on Tuesday night for a key MCAL clash at Marin Catholic.
- Hindi Copeland and Maddie Petersmeyer scored 14 points apiece to lead Redwood to a 71-43 victory against Moreau Catholic on Monday. Kitty White added 10 points and Brooke Denler scored nine for the Giants (12-5), who led 40-23 at the half. The Giants face Branson at College of Marin on Wednesday night.
Boys basketball
Terra Linda hung tough against Chico into the second half but surrendered an 11-0 run to close the third quarter in an eventual 70-59 loss on Monday. The Trojans (9-8) pulled within 42-40 on a basket by En-Yu Liu with 90 seconds left in the third quarter right before Chico reeled off its decisive run.
Wes Harrison paced TL with 22 points, Kaden Martin scored 17, and Logan Walters had nine. The Trojans host Novato in an MCAL game on Tuesday.
- NJ Gray pumped in 28 points as the Branson School beat Campolindo, 64-55, in Monday’s King’s Court MLK North Bay Showcase at Terra Linda High. Tyler Wells added 12 points for the Bulls.
Boys soccer
Marco Caruso scored on a penalty kick but host Tam fell 2-1 against Sonoma Valley on Monday. The Red-tailed Hawks (7-3-3) return to action under the lights at Marin Catholic on Wednesday night.
Basketball
The Marin County Free Throw Championship returns on Sunday — at Archie Williams High from 8:30-11:30 a.m. — with proceeds from the event going to help the needy in the community through the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
