Celebrate Dungeness crab season at these Marin events

The Bay Area’s commercial Dungeness crab season kicked off Jan. 5, setting the table for Marin’s winter run of crab feed fundraisers. With several long-standing events already sold out or nearing capacity, early reservations are advised.

The Sausalito Sustainable Waterfront Association and Fish, a Sausalito restaurant known for its commitment to Seafood Watch standards and long-term species protection, will host the second annual Sausalito Crab Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito.

Hog Island Oyster Co. will shuck oysters on-site, Fish will prepare fresh crab and sides, and freshly caught local Dungeness will be on sale to take home.

Other highlights include paired hot and cold beverages, live music by local bands and the opportunity to stroll the docks and step on board open boats on display in the harbor, from commercial fishing vessels to luxury yachts. Local crab fishers will be on hand to share insights into their trade and its vital role in Sausalito’s maritime heritage.

Festival admission is $15 ($5 for ages 12 to 18), with food and beverages sold separately. Find additional details and secure tickets at my805tix.com/e/sausalito-crab-festival. All event proceeds support Sausalito’s local fishing fleet and the Sausalito Sustainable Waterfront Association’s mission to preserve the waterfront.
