Nicki Minaj shows off Trump Gold Card for legal U.S. residency, got it ‘free of charge’
Nicki Minaj is relishing in the rewards for her recent support for the MAGA movement.
The Grammy-nominated rapper, who declared herself to be President Trump’s “No. 1 fan” on Wednesday, later took to social media to show off her Trump “Gold Card,” a new program that offers a fast-track for wealthy immigrants to gain legal U.S. residency and eventually a pathway to citizenship.
For most individuals, the Gold Card costs $1 million, plus a $15,000 screening fee. But Minaj, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, said her card came “free of charge.”
She boasted about her latest bling in a post on X, sharing a photo of the shiny card emblazoned with Trump’s face.
“Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per my wonderful, gracious, charming president … I wouldn’t have done it without you,” she wrote in a follow-up post, referring to herself as “CitizenNIKA.”
Minaj, whose legal name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, came to the U.S. with her parents as a child and was raised in Queens, New York.
During a TikTok streaming session in 2024, the 43-year-old revealed that she still was “not a citizen of America.”
“Isn’t that crazy?” she asked before explaining her origin. “I was born on a beautiful island called Trinidad and Tobago, but I’ve been in the States for many years. You would think that with the millions of dollars that I’ve paid in taxes to this country that I would have been given an honorary citizenship many, many, many thousands of years ago.”
Years before she began cozying up to Trump, Minaj criticized the U.S. government’s family-separation policies when sharing her own story of illegal immigration.
But within the past few months, amid controversy surrounding the polarizing presence of ICE agents in American cities, the former chart-topper has embraced right-wing political leanings — and has lost a slew of fans in the process.
She was seen holding hands with Trump on Wednesday during a summit in Washington, D.C. to promote his newborn savings account program.
“I will say that I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan, and that’s not going to change,” she said after Trump invited her to speak onstage. “The hate — or what people have to say — it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more.”
