Oakland resident who died in head-on crash on Byron Highway is identified
The crash happened Dec. 30 near Clifton Court, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities have identified a woman who died in a head-on collision on the Byron Highway in East Contra Costa County last month.
The crash Dec. 30 on the highway near Clifton Court killed 29-year-old Antoinette Thompson-Scott, of Oakland. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office released her identity.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Chevrolet Silverado crossed into oncoming traffic while traveling northbound and crashed into a grey Kia sedan.
Thompson-Scott was driving the sedan. Police said she was not seat-belted.
The two occupants of the Chevrolet were injured and taken to a trauma center in Walnut Creek. One went by helicopter. The CHP has not provided updates on their conditions.
A Hyundai Elantra going south on Byron Highway and a Hummer going north hit debris created by the crash but were uninjured despite damage to their vehicles, the CHP said.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the wreck.
