San Jose: Homicide arrest made after woman found dead at home
A police call to a Mill Pond Drive home ended with the discovery of the victim's body and the on-site arrest of a suspect.
SAN JOSE — A call for help to a San Jose home Sunday afternoon ended with the discovery of a deceased woman and the arrest of her alleged killer, police said Monday.
Police officers were summoned at 12:33 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of Mill Pond Drive — near Curtner Avenue and Highway 87 — after someone called 911 to request medical attention and a police response.
Officers arrived there to find a woman who was not breathing and had “signs of physical trauma,” and she was later pronounced dead at the home, according to a San Jose Police Department news release. Her name was not publicly released pending her formal identification and notification of her next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. The office was closed Monday in recognition of Cesar Chavez Day.
Additional details, including how exactly the victim died and how it might have happened, were not released by police Monday. But they said an ensuing investigation led to the arrest of a person known to the victim and who was at the home when police arrived.
Police did not identify this person, saying only that “the suspect will be identified at a later date.”
The death marked the 11th homicide of the year investigated by San Jose police.
