Beach hazards statement for Northern Monterey Bay for Thursday and Friday
On Monday at 11:43 p.m. a beach hazards statement was released by the National Weather Service valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday Jan. 9, at 10 p.m. for Northern Monterey Bay.
The NWS San Francisco CA said, “Hazardous beach conditions expected with strong rip currents, sneaker waves, and breaking waves up to 15 feet.”
“Dangerous conditions are forecast along the shoreline. Hazards include sneaker waves, strong rip currents, and large breaking waves,” the NWS said. “Stay off of jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous surf and NEVER turn your back on the ocean.”
