Two arrested by Lancaster police after body found in wooded area
LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH) -- Two people were arrested Saturday night and charged in the death of a man after his body was found in Lancaster.
Lancaster police said officers went to the 700 block of South Maple Street for a well-being check. Shortly after, officers found a body in a nearby wooded area.
Just before midnight Sunday, police announced officers arrested a man from Laurelville and a woman from Columbus in the man's death. John Scott, 44, faces a murder charge while Holly McDaniel, 45, has been charged with abuse of a corpse.
The victim's cause of death has yet to be determined as a joint investigation is underway. It is being conducted by the Fairfield County Coroner's Office, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Lancaster police.
