Former Buckeyes center Nick Mangold seeking kidney donor
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Former Ohio State and New York Jets center Nick Mangold has announced he is in need of a kidney donation.
The 41-year-old from Centerville, Ohio said Tuesday he has been dealing with a chronic kidney disease for the last 19 years and had to start undergoing dialysis treatment this summer. Mangold reached out to the Ohio State and Jets communities as he is in need of a kidney donor with type O blood.
"Unfortunately, I do not have any family able to donate at this time, so this is why I'm reaching out to you, our NY Jets and Ohio State communities," wrote Mangold on social media. "While this has been a tough stretch, I'm staying positive and focused on the path ahead. I'm looking forward to better days and getting back to full strength soon."

After being a high school multi-sport star, Mangold played four seasons of college football at Ohio State as a center. He won the 2002 national title as a freshman and was later named a first-team All-American with the Buckeyes in 2005.
Mangold was selected with the 29th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Jets and stayed with them for his entire career. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and an NFL first-team All-Pro center in 2009 and 2010, helping the Jets to two AFC Championship game appearances in those seasons.
He was inducted into the Jets' ring of honor in 2022 after starting 164 games for the team from 2006 to 2016.
