Josh Jacobs Primed for a Big Game

After churning out 11 wins last season and then nabbing stud DE Micah Parsons in a trade with Dallas, the Green Bay Packers seemed like everyone’s favourite to win the Super Bowl this season.

However, two straight losses has dropped them to 5-3-1, good for only third place in the highly competitive NFC North. Green Bay’s D has been more or less as solid as last year, but the offense has taken a step back, ranking just 15th in points while managing a total of just 20 points during their current losing streak.

Heading into the season, we wondered whether Romeo Doubs was going to be traded; well, he remains with the Packers, but is still struggling to break through as a true No. 1 receiver, having been held to a season-low one reception in Monday’s loss to Philly.

But perhaps an even bigger reason why the Green Bay offense isn’t as good this season has been the run game. After ranking sixth in yards per game at 144.6 last season, it’s plummeted to 20th with only 111.9 in 2025.

Lead back and former Raider Josh Jacobs hasn’t been as effective. He was fed often on Monday, garnering 21 carries, but only managed 74 yards, even worse efficiency than usual for him. Yes, Jacobs scored yet again, giving him a six-game TD streak in which he’s hit paydirt nine times. That’s the good news.

But he’s struggling with the second lowest YPC of his career, and while he’s still on track to flirt with 1,150 yards for the season (assuming he stays healthy), he’ll likely fall well below his output from his Packers debut in 2024. In the receiving game, Jacobs’ YPR is down as well, but still above his career average; he’s failed to haul in a TD pass after managing his first ever last season. We need to see him do this more often (except, in the real world)…

Still, Jacobs looks like a top five (maybe even top three) RB (and must-start DFS play) for Week 11 given the Pack’s matchup against the Giants, whose run D is worse than every team except Cincy.

Coming out of Alabama as the top RB in the 2019 draft, he has ultimately lived up to his Pro Bowl potential, getting the nod for the game three times so far.

It’s Jonathan Taylor’s World

Heading into this season, the Indianapolis Colts didn’t even project as a playoff team. Yet, here they are, having won five of their last six to open a commanding lead in the AFC South while already matching their win total from all of last season (eight) – with seven games still to go.

This much is clear: even if the Colts had a first round pick (traded to the Jets in the Sauce Gardner deal), they would not be in the running for Ty Simpson, Fernando Mendoza or any of the other players with a shot to go first overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.

A huge part of Indianapolis’ success this season has been running back Jonathan Taylor. The last time we covered him – and it’s been way too long – we wisely suggested you temper your expectations. But who knows what to expect after Taylor ran wild in Berlin in Week 10?

All he did was rack up a season-high 244 yards with three touchdowns, including an 83-yard run (the longest in the NFL this season) and an eight-yarder to win it in overtime. Believe it or not, this was Taylor’s fifth three-score day through 10 games this season. Just let that roll around in your head for a bit… yes, it’s an NFL first.

After a couple of injury-shortened down years, he enjoyed a strong bounce back last season with 1,431 yards, but nothing that could have prepared us for his career effort so far in 2025. Taylor already has 1,139 yards on just 189 totes for a career best 6.0 yards per carry while adding 260 receiving yards. Oh, and then there’s the whole 17 TDs thing. Are you kidding me?

With his trio of rushing scores on Sunday, Taylor passed Hall of Famer Edgerrin James for the most in Colt history. For those counting at home, Taylor has now topped 200 yards three times in his career, and fell just short of his personal high of 253 in this latest effort.

He’s well on his way to a rushing title, and can’t be completely discounted as an MVP candidate. While we’re at it, let’s talk about how Taylor is doing things that precious few RBs have done in NFL history. How many players do you think have had at least two games with 200 rushing yards with three rushing TDs? Well, Taylor just became the fourth, joining Jim Brown, Adrian Peterson and Derrick Henry.

With the Colts having played in Germany, they get a well-earned bye for Week 11, so Taylor has a chance to rest up before he continues his assault on the rest of the NFL.
