Jacoby Brissett Is a Sneaky Play vs. Dallas

When we checked in on the Arizona Cardinals last month, we discussed their offensive issues. Well, since then Arizona has been better, scoring at least 21 points in all three games while rising six spots in yardage per game, but the losses keep piling up.

A promising 2-0 start has been wiped out by a five-game losing streak heading into the Cardinals’ Monday Night Football matchup against Dallas. And for the third straight week, Arizona’s offense will be led by Jacoby Brissett, who some believe is simply not as good as the still hurting Kyler Murray (foot).

Brissett began last season winning the QB battle in New England, but his performance proved he’s better suited as a backup as he struggled to complete a high percentage of passes. But now, after starting this season as the No. 2 man in ‘Zona, Murray’s injury has thrust Brissett back into a starting role, and he’s actually been better than usual – especially in Week Eight against the Packers (25-for-36 for 279 yards with two TDs and zero picks).

As strange as it seems, veteran backup Brissett could actually roll with the starting gig for a while given that Murray (who may play a bit on Monday) wasn’t exactly racking up the yardage and has not done enough to secure the job long-term.

Don’t be scared to start Brissett in this one; Dallas’ D is horrific, so this is as good a matchup as you can hope for. In fact, he makes for a stellar QB2 or a low-end QB1 this week.

Okay, so Brissett isn’t nearly as mobile a QB as Murray, and we saw that with Brissett getting sacked six times last week. But discounting any QB from having a big day against the Cowboys’ D is not good strategy.

DK Metcalf’s Inconsistency

In early July, we predicted that the Pittsburgh Steelers would have a better offense this season. Well, the results have been mixed; while they’ve dropped to 28th in yardage, they are doing a better job of putting up points, rising from 16th to 12th in scoring this season.

One of the biggest keys to this offense has been new wide receiver DK Metcalf. Formerly part of a potent one-two punch in Seattle, he’s found some success in his first season in Steeltown after being traded from the Seahawks in March.

Unfortunately, Metcalf – like almost every Steeler pass catcher – was held in check on Sunday, managing just two catches for six yards, both season lows. He came into action this week on a decent roll, and the fact that he’s posting a higher YPR this season and has already matched his TD total from 2024 has helped drive his Fantasy value.

However, consistency has been an issue here, as Metcalf – a longshot to win AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year for 2025-26 (currently +20000 as per FanDuel) has failed to record over 50 receiving yards in four of his eight games. For Week 10, consider him a decent WR2.
