Leaders of Holy Land churches condemn Israeli settler violence during a West Bank visit

Top church leaders in the Holy Land have condemned intensifying Israeli settler violence on the only entirely Christian Palestinian village remaining in the occupied West Bank. Monday's rare solidarity visit by the heads of the Greek Orthodox and Catholic churches follows incidents in the village of Taybeh. They asserted that Israeli authorities “facilitate and enable” the presence of the settlers and called for Israel to protect residents and punish the attackers. Israel’s military did not immediately respond to the allegations. Читать дальше...

Here's what triggered the latest deadly sectarian clashes in Syria, and why it matters

Clashes in Syria between Bedouin tribes, government forces, and the Druze minority have left dozens dead, raising fears of escalating violence. The fighting began Monday in Sweida province after a Druze man was attacked at a Bedouin checkpoint, sparking tit-for-tat violence. Government forces intervened but were accused of siding with the Bedouins. Syria remains deeply divided after 14 years of civil war and the fall of President Bashar Assad. The Druze, a minority group, are wary of the Islamist-led government and fear losing their rights. Читать дальше...

A Senate vote this week will test the popularity of DOGE spending cuts

Senate Republicans are putting the popularity of Department of Government Efficiency spending cuts to the test this week. The GOP lawmakers are looking to pass President Donald Trump’s request to claw back $9.4 billion in spending on public media and foreign aid. Senate Democrats are looking to kill the measure. The House has already approved the rescissions package on a mostly party line 214-212 vote. The Senate has little time to spare to beat the 45-day deadline for the Republican president’s signature. Wizz Air will exit Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport, long overshadowed by Dubai

Wizz Air says it will suspend its Abu Dhabi operations starting Sept. 1.
