Rescuers are searching for 19 people missing in severe flooding in Nepal that swept away a key bridge connecting the country with China. Police said rescuers have also recovered nine bodies from the river. Nepali authorities say the flooding on Tuesday destroyed the Friendship Bridge at Rasuwagadi. Most of the missing are workers on a Chinese-assisted construction project. Security forces included the crew of an army helicopter have rescued 55 people. The flood also swept away houses, trucks and hundreds of electric vehicles parked at the border. The bridge's destruction has halted trade between China and Nepal through this route.
