Britain’s oldest World War II veteran, Donald Rose, has died at 110. Rose participated in the D-Day landings in 1944 and helped liberate the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. On Friday, Erewash Borough Council leader James Dawson called him a “war hero” and praised his contributions. In May, Rose joined other veterans at a tea party marking 80 years since Victory in Europe Day. Born in 1914, Rose served in North Africa, Italy, and France, earning multiple medals, including France’s Legion d’Honneur. In May, he joined 45 other veterans as guests of honor at a celebration to mark 80 years since Victory in Europe Day.
