Iran says five inmates where killed and several others escaped from Tehran’s Evin prison after an Israeli airstrike last month. The semiofficial ILNA news agency and other Iranian media on Saturday quoted a spokesman from Iran’s judiciary as saying that the five inmates who were killed in the June 23 attack had been convicted of financial offences. The spokesman didn't name the victims or give any other details. The judiciary’s news website, Mizanonline, said only that a “small number” of prisoners killed as a result of the attack.
