At least eight people have been detained following violent clashes in the southeastern Spanish town of Torre-Pacheco. The unrest on Saturday night erupted after far-right groups sought retribution on the area's large migrant population following an earlier assault on an elderly resident by unknown attackers. Authorities said Monday that two of those detained were linked to the initial assault, while six others were detained for their roles in the clashes. Torre-Pacheco, with a population of 42,000, has a significant migrant community, many working in agriculture. Police increased their presence in the area to address the ongoing tensions.
