Pakistan’s deputy prime minister has accused India of "weaponizing water" by releasing water from Indian dams without warning. He says this violates a World Bank-brokered water-sharing treaty and threatens regional peace. On Thursday, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry sought clarification from India over irregular water releases from the Chenab River. Authorities said similar actions in September worsened flooding in eastern Pakistan. The Indus Water Treaty, established in 1960, allows water sharing between the two countries. India suspended the treaty in April, escalating tensions. Pakistan has informed the U.N., urging intervention. There was no immediate comment from India.
