Nobody could accuse CBS News' Tony Dokoupil of participating in a soft launch. His first days as “CBS Evening News” anchor put more focus on that role than there has been in years. Dokoupil issued a manifesto of how he wants to do the job that sparked some criticism, threw some shade at the late CBS News legend Walter Cronkite, and had an impromptu first broadcast that featured an extensive interview with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The former morning show anchor says he wants to earn the trust of viewers, and he begins by addressing a lack of trust in television news.
