A small part of the Sunshine State became the Snowy State for a brief time as snow covers parts of the western Florida Panhandle. It's the second year in a row areas have seen snow. On Sunday morning, enough frigid air rushed in behind a cold front to turn rain showers into snowflakes. Less than a year ago, some of the same areas saw up to 8 inches of snow, Snow photos flooded social media, showing flakes on the beach and nestled in palm fronds. Southeastern Alabama and southern Georgia also experienced a rare snow day.
