Seven officers involved in the death of a 43-year-old man in a Boston suburb will not face criminal charges. Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker announced Tuesday that charges are not supportable after reviewing the case. Francis Gigliotti died in July after being restrained by police during a mental health crisis. Witness video showed officers holding him face down, but not how long he was restrained. An autopsy revealed cardiac dysrhythmia due to cocaine and ethanol intoxication while being restrained. The U.S. Department of Justice has warned about the dangers of positional asphyxia since the mid-1990s.
