The top U.S. envoy to China has called for fair and reciprocal trade between the world's two largest economies. U.S. Ambassador David Perdue expressed concern on Thursday about projections that China's dominance of global manufacturing will grow even further. Perdue was speaking in Beijing and he acknowledged China's manufacturing success. But the ambassador echoed fears that its exports threaten jobs in other countries. Perdue was appointed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The envoy said that China benefits from free trade but American companies have faced barriers. He said that the U.S. seeks fair trade and isn't looking for a trade war. Plans are underway for visits between Trump and Xi. But dates aren't confirmed.
