Snow and rain have begun falling over parts of the East Coast with the approach of an intense winter storm that multiplied blizzard alerts around the region. The National Weather Service said snow up to one or two feet is possible in many areas Sunday into Monday, along with heavy winds and possible flooding in certain spots. Blizzard warnings have been issued by the weather service in New York City and Long Island, Boston and coastal communities in New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Emergency declarations were issued in New York and New Jersey ahead of the storm.
