Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has offered to mediate for a new ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan. That's according to an statement from the Turkish presidential office. The offer came as fighting along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan entered its sixth day on Wednesday. The statement says Erdogan in a telephone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif “condemned the terrorist attacks in Pakistan." It also quotes Erdogan as saying that “Turkey will contribute to the reestablishment of the ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” after a previous one struck with the help of Turkey’s initiatives last year collapsed.
